SBK ambassadors Richard Kingscote, Nicola Currie, Sean Levey and Classic-winning trainer George Boughey are back in action this weekend and we caught up with them for a quick chat about their runners and rides.
Richard Kingscote, jockey: “We probably haven’t seen the best of Noon Star yet. A mile and a half will suit in the Pinnacle Stakes (2.55 Haydock), but she needs to settle. She has always looked like she will be a good filly - she won well at Nottingham on her second start and ran well again in a decent race at York last year. She’s going the right way.”
Noon Star is currently available at 6.2 on SBK.
Sean Levey, jockey: “Lulworth Cove is in very good form. The reason she didn’t run last week was because the soft ground went against her - we’ve always thought she’s a filly that would appreciate top of the ground. She’s taking on the colts at Salisbury (5.35) and there’s another Richard Hannon-trained horse in the race who goes particularly well, but she’s ready to start and we’re looking forward to seeing how good she is.”
Lulworth Cove is currently available at 5 on SBK.
Nicola Currie, jockey: “Mitrosonfire goes to Haydock for the 0-95 handicap over six furlongs (4.05). His first run of the year was very creditable and he would have sharpened up a lot since then. This race looks competitive on paper, but he’s very consistent and goes on any ground. I hope he will run a big race.”
Mitrosonfire is currently available at 12 on SBK.
George Boughey, trainer: “Land Of Eagles has done very well since we bought him at the February sales. We gave him a break after that and he took quite a while to come to hand, but he’s been working nicely. He’ll probably get further than the 7½f at Beverley (1.30) that he will encounter this weekend, but he qualifies for a Band B race, so we thought it was right to take our chance here. He should be very competitive.”
Land Of Eagles is currently available at 2.32 on SBK.
