SBK ambassadors Richard Kingscote, Nicola Currie, Sean Levey and Classic-winning trainer George Boughey are back in action this weekend and we caught up with them for a quick chat about their runners.
Richard Kingscote, jockey: “A mile and a half on a stiff track is perfect for Boss Power (1.45 Ascot), who needs a good pace to aim at. There’s a massive field, but he’s got a perfect draw and everything seems to be in his favour. It just depends on if there’s any well-handicapped rivals lurking.”
Sean Levey, jockey: “Mandoob (2.20 Ascot) has been working quite well. Given he’s a big and scopey horse, he’s sure to have improved for age. This race looks competitive but he’s going to make a good account of himself.”
Nicola Currie, jockey: "Just Hubert (1.45 Ascot) is having his first run of the season and drops back in trip, which I don’t think will pose too many problems. He’s quite quirky but very talented and I’m looking forward to riding him.”
George Boughey, trainer: “We run Mystic Wells in the Oaks Trial (3.15 Lingfield). She is a sister to a Listed winner in the United States and she deserves her chance to get some Black Type. She likes fast ground and was very tenacious at Brighton on her last start.”
Kingscote: "I also ride Don't Tell Claire in the 3.30 at Ascot. She did very well last year, but this is a difficult race to assess with lots of the horses coming back off a break. I know Daniel and Claire (Kubler, trainers) are really happy with her and hopefully I get a good ride.”
