The rich rewards that are made possible for a low stake means that an accumulator is an attractive option for many bettors, so with an action-packed Saturday of sport ahead, here are five bets that you should be including in yours.
There’s little doubt about the most attractive football match of the weekend, with Manchester City and Liverpool doing battle in the first FA Cup semi-final. Greg Lea believes that the Reds are set to get the better of this match: “Liverpool warmed up for this game with a 3-3 draw against Benfica at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp was able to leave the likes of Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Fabinho out of his starting XI. Pep Guardiola had no such luxury. City were involved in a bruising encounter against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital. Liverpool should be mentally and physically fresher on Saturday.”
Earlier in the day, Tottenham are in Premier League action against Brighton, and Liz Byrnes believes that Spurs’ firepower will ensure a bagful of goals: “They have been rampant in front of goal, scoring 14 in four games, including nine in their last two… Son Heung-Min has been on target six times in three league games, including a hat-trick last time out at Aston Villa.”
And Liz believes that it will be a good day for Cristiano Ronaldo, too, backing the Portuguese to break his recent goal drought against a Norwich side surely condemned to relegation. “Man Utd’s position could have been far worse without Ronaldo,” she points out.
Staying in football, Liz is backing Brentford to continue their excellent recent form by overwhelming Watford. “Brentford have been transformed by the arrival of Christian Eriksen and they have won four of their last five games. They thumped Chelsea 4-1 in their last away game,” she says.
Moving into basketball, and Mark Woods fancies Toronto to beat Philadelphia. “The Sixers have won 10 of their last 15, but that run included a 119-114 beating from their first-round foes, the Toronto Raptors last week,” he notes.
