Matches that will affect both ends of the table highlight Sunday’s action in the Premier League - there is no better place to be this weekend than watching all the top-flight drama unfold.
Can Leeds bolster their survival hopes against West Ham? Will Brighton be able to bounce back after Thursday’s loss to Newcastle? And Manchester City could have their chance to win the Premier League title for the fifth time in six years.
Football expert Peter Galindo has previewed each match and provided his value selections for your Sunday accumulator.
Kick-off: 1.30pm Sunday
Leeds United will hope that West Ham United experience a European hangover after qualifying for the Europa Conference League final on Thursday. It could be the difference between survival and relegation for the Whites.
There have been signs of life from Leeds under Sam Allardyce - a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Manchester City and a 2-2 draw with red-hot Newcastle proved that. Now they have an opportunity to take home all three points for the first time since April 4.
Leeds have been far more aggressive under Allardyce. A pair of players were booked against Man City, Junior Firpo was sent off in the game against Newcastle after picking up two bookings, while Joel Robles and Patrick Bamford also received yellows. Even the Magpies had multiple cautions in that encounter.
Therefore, it’s highly possible that both sides receive two or more cards in Sunday’s early kickoff. Instead of backing in the full-time result market, take the bookings bet at tasty odds.
Prediction: Both teams to receive two or more cards @ 2.18
Kick-off: 2pm Sunday
Brighton have been uncharacteristically inconsistent over the past few games. They were hammered 5-1 by Everton, smashed Arsenal the week after, then proceeded to lose 4-1 to Newcastle on Thursday.
It’s even crazier because Brighton had posted three clean sheets against Arsenal, Manchester United and Wolves in between those lopsided defeats.
Logic now dictates that Brighton should rebound with another clean-sheet victory on Sunday against already relegated Southampton. Given the quick turnaround, though, it may be a grind and 2-0 seems the most likely result.
Prediction: Brighton to win 2-0 @ 8.8
Kick-off: 4pm Sunday
Wednesday’s convincing win over Real Madrid made it 23 matches unbeaten for Manchester City in all competitions. They’ve won 11 straight games in the Premier League and are showing no signs of slowing down.
Chelsea’s form couldn’t be a bigger contrast. The Blues have just one win from their last 11 games, and have lost on their last three visits to the Etihad Stadium.
Add that to City’s defensive stand - they have kept a clean sheet in five straight games against Chelsea, including a 4-0 thumping in January - and it might be a long day for the visitors, even with rotation from Pep Guardiola.
Prediction: Manchester City to win and Only one team to score @ 2.06
West Ham United v Leeds United: Both teams to receive two or more cards @ 2.18
Brighton v Southampton: Brighton to win 2-0 @ 8.8
Manchester City v Chelsea: Manchester City to win and Only one team to score @ 2.06
