Saturday’s Premier League Tips: Manchester United can continue impressive streak

The Premier League returns after a two-week break with crunch clashes at both ends of the table, and football tipster Greg Lea has compiled a list of his best bets.

Everton v Arsenal 

Kick-off: 12.30pm Saturday 

The Sean Dyche era begins in the early kick-off on Saturday as the ex-Burnley boss takes charge of his first game at Everton. Given how well Arsenal have played this season, this is probably the worst possible starting point.

Everton have struggled for goals all campaign - Wolves are the only team that have found the net on fewer occasions. And, although there will be plenty of effort from the home team, that might not be enough to break through against the Premier League leaders.

Prediction: Arsenal clean sheet @ 1.86 

Aston Villa v Leicester City

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday 

Unai Emery has done a fantastic job in the first three months of his Aston Villa tenure. Since the Spaniard replaced Steven Gerrard in the Villa Park dugout, only Arsenal have averaged more points per game than Emery’s new side. 

Brendan Rodgers: has struggled to get Leicester playing at their best this year

Meanwhile, Leicester continue to underwhelm. A 2-2 draw with Brighton in their last game ended a four-game losing streak, but the Foxes remain unable to get going this term. This could be yet another disappointing afternoon for Brendan Rodgers and co.

Prediction: Aston Villa to win @ 2.14 

Brentford v Southampton

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday

Southampton have shown flickers of life in recent weeks, but they remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table. Seven defeats in their last eight top-flight matches is a dreadful recent record, and Brentford away has proved to be a tricky game for most teams in the division. 

Despite their poor results, the Saints have at least managed to score in 11 of their last 14 games in all competitions. You can anticipate them keeping up that trend here, though they will struggle to keep Brentford out down the other end.

Prediction: Both teams to score @ 1.92

Brighton & Hove Albion v Bournemouth

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday 

Brighton are on course for their greatest ever season. The Seagulls advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a victory over Liverpool last weekend, while few would bet against them in terms of a top-six finish in the Premier League. 

Roberto De Zerbi has settled on a new-look attack of late with Solly March, Evan Ferguson and Karou Mitoma all in top form. Available at a surprisingly big price, back March to score against Bournemouth’s porous backline. 

Prediction: Solly March to score any time @ 3.95

Manchester United v Crystal Palace 

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday

Crystal Palace have not scored a Premier League goal from open play in any of their last seven games. They have found the net three times during that time - including once against Manchester United last month - but they are really struggling to create clearcut chances aside from set-piece situations.

Erik ten Hag: will be looking for another victory on Saturday afternoon

Without the injured Wilfried Zaha, they will struggle to halt a Manchester United team that is searching for a 13th consecutive win in all competitions.

Prediction: Manchester United to win to nil @ 2.16

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Liverpool

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday 

The 2022/23 campaign is starting to look like a write-off for Liverpool, whose only hope of silverware now lies in the Champions League. Even a top-four finish domestically might prove to be beyond the Reds, who are yet to win in the league this calendar year. 

Liverpool are struggling to find the net and Wolves are the division’s most goal-shy team, so this may not be a thriller. Back the under on total goals. 

Prediction: Under 2.5 goals @ 2.14
