After a bumper round of Premier League midweek fixtures the top flight clubs are back in action this weekend, as are we with a Tipsheet featuring five picks from across the slate. With such a dense schedule, some clubs have European duties on the horizon, gameweek 16 could prove to be a tricky one to navigate.
Kick off: 15:00 Saturday
Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton are an entertaining watch.
The 2-1 victory over Brentford in midweek meant the Seagulls have only failed to score in one of their 21 games this campaign. It was also the seventh time they have won and both teams have scored this term and that is the bet here.
Vincent Kompany is stubborn. You have to admire it in a sense, although his side get calved open most weeks (only Sheffield United have conceded more), the Belgian boss won’t budge on his principles.
It should set us up for a goal laden clash on the south coast.
Prediction: Brighton to win and both teams to score @ 3.20
Kick off: 15:00 Saturday
Dominic Solanke has found the net seven times this campaign, yes he may need another seven to catch the Premier League’s top goalscorer but he is only three off the pace of Mohamed Salah.
Bournemouth have only dropped two points from the last 12 on offer and Solanke has scored three times over that period, hitting the double in a 2-0 win over Newcastle. Backing him to hit another at tasty odds is the bet here as he should get chances, Man Utd have not kept a clean sheet in three games.
Predictions: Dominic Solanke to score two @ 17.0
Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday
The Molineux is becoming a fortress.
Wolves 1-0 victory over Burnley on Tuesday extended their unbeaten run on home turf to five games, only Liverpool (4-1) and Brighton (3-1) have beaten them on their own patch this campaign.
The current hot streak is made all the more impressive considering the opposition. The Wanderers have also beaten Manchester City and Tottenham at home, and shared the spoils with Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Next on the roster for Gary O’Neil is Nottingham Forest, a side fresh off the back of a 5-0 thumping.
Prediction: Wolves to beat Forest @ 1.93
Kick-off: 14:00 Sunday, Sky Sports
They’ve almost done it again.
It took a last-gasp Declan Rice header to snatch the points from Luton’s grasp when Arsenal went to Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening. Mikel Arteta’s title contenders were not the first team to struggle in Luton and based on the Hatters dogged spirit, they certainly won’t be the last.
The Gunners left with two more points then Liverpool managed and in similar fashion, the Reds left it late to salvage a draw. In Between those games, Rob Edwards side beat Crystal Palace and are yet to lose by more than one goal on home soil.
In fact, Luton only failed to find the net against the 10 men of Tottenham, finding the net in each of their other six home games.
Prediction: Both teams to score in Luton vs Man City @ 2.32
Kick-off: 16:30 Sunday, Sky Sports
Those celebrations after a late turnaround against Sheffield United back in September certainly look overzealous now.
Having topped the table in Autumn, Spurs are now nine points behind Arsenal having taken just one point from the last 18 on offer.
The high line Ange Postecoglou wants to play has been impossible to pull off in the absence of his two pacey centre backs.
Cristian Romero returns from suspension but without Micky van de Ven it is tough to see how the hosts get a result.
Newcastle may have half of a bus load of absentees to content with themselves but Eddie Howe has the tactical fluidity to unlock this Tottenham side.
Prediction: Newcastle to beat Tottenham @ 3.40
Back Brighton to win and both teams to score @ 3.20
Back Dominic Solanke to score two @ 17.0
Back Wolves to beat Forest @ 1.93
Back Both teams to score in Luton vs Man City @ 2.32
Back Newcastle to beat Tottenham @ 3.40
