After a hectic week on the continent domestic action returns, the top two tiers are back alongside the FA Cup second-round and we have five tips from the Premier League.
Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday
Six points from their last five games culminating in a win over Crystal Palace last weekend, their second of the season, has put real daylight between Luton and the dotted line.
Four points to be exact and yes the Hatters cause has been aided massively by the Everton points deduction but Rob Edward’s side are giving themselves the best possible chance.
I do not think it is unfair to say that Kenilworth Road has played a large part in their success so far. At the Kenny, Luton have picked up points in half of their six games and on the road
Prediction: Brentford Asian Handicap (-1) vs Luton @ 1.75
Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday
Arsenal secured their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League on Wednesday within 26 minutes as they raced into a 6-0 lead over Lens. It afforded Mikel Arteta the luxury to rest some of his big hitters ahead of this league match.
It may not be as straightforward as the odds suggest. Wolves have been a thorn in the side of many of the big hitters they have played this campaign. The 2-1 victories over Manchester City and Tottenham the standouts but they should also be mention for the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford and Anfield, both of which Wolves should have come away with more.
Backing the visitors to cause a shock in North London is the bet, these post-European games have proved to be the downfall of many in the past.
Prediction: Wolves to beat Arsenal @ 12.5
Kick-off: 17:30 Saturday, Sky Sports
This game has a whiff of goals but given the two sides precarious positions, it shouldn’t.
As ever, Steve Cooper is under pressure. His side may be eight points from safety but their haul of 13 points having played as many games would usually see them closer to the relegation zone.
Everton, without the point deduction, would have been a point ahead of Forest but as it stands they are firmly embroiled in a relegation scrap.
So, why are both teams playing with such freedom?
Everton’s games have averaged 2.6 goals this season and Forest’s 2.8, siding with both teams to score is the play here.
Prediction: Both teams to score in Forest vs Everton @ 1.81
Kick-off: 14:00 Sunday
Aston Villa secured Europa Conference League Qualification and moved top of their group with the win over Legia Warsaw on Thursday. On all fronts, it meant they have won their last four games and have only dropped three points from the last 24 on offer.
For all their great possession play, the high line can still be exposed. You would have to go back 10 games to find their last clean sheet though and they have only kept two domestically this term.
Bournemouth are on the up. Their win at Bramall Lane last weekend put real daylight between themselves and the relegation zone. The Cherries have proved they can bloody the nose of any side in the division and if they are going to be amongst the goals on Sunday you would imagine their talisman Dominic Solakne will be involved. He has already netted six times this season.
Prediction: Dominic Solanke to score anytime @ 3.25
Kick-off: 14:00 Sunday
Mohamed Salah converted from the spot on the continent on Thursday, his 199th goal for Liverpool. Fulham visit Anfield this Saturday and you certainly would not bet against the Egyptian netting his 200th this Sunday.
The visitors have picked up one point in five games against the traditional ‘big six’ this season, shipping 12 goals.
Salah is in imperious form, 10 goals and the Reds creator in chief has set up another five domestically which translates to a goals per 90 average of 0.79.
Prediction: Mohamed Salah to score two @ 5.0
Back Brentford Asian Handicap (-1) vs Luton @ 1.75
Back Wolves to beat Arsenal @ 12.5
Back Both teams to score in Forest vs Everton @ 1.75
Back Dominic Solanke to score anytime @ 3.25
Back Mohamed Salah to score two @ 5.0
