We have a title race and a relegation battle to settle in the Premier League this month. One point separates Arsenal and Manchester City at the top and there are two points between Burnley, Luton and Nottingham Forest at the foot of the division. We have tips for half of the action in the top flight this weekend.
Kick-off: 20:00 Friday, Sky Sports
Everton are safe.
A 6-0 drubbing at Stamford Bridge was followed by maximum points against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Brentford allowing Sean Dyche to broaden his horizons and dip into the music scene. The supremo has been exchanging pleasantries via the media with Green Day and can be seen in a Blossoms music video in his old management attire of a suit.
All this will suit Rob Edwards no end as his side are currently the wrong side of the dotted line. A point behind Forest and with a goal difference nine worse off, three points are essential here.
I think this could lead to chaos which is why goals appeal. Only four teams have kept Luton at bay this term in the top flight and each of their last four games have seen at least three goals.
Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.73
Kick-off: Saturday 12:30, TNT Sports
It took every ounce of my strength not to tip a Bournemouth win here at 15.00.
I resist though because Arsenal bottling the league is so last year, if they are going to missout, I do not think it will be because they drop points.
I fell into the trap of touting the Cherries at the Etihad. They lost 6-0.
In fact, against the top four, they have taken one point from a possible 21.
I do think they have the firepower to bloody the hosts nose though. Bournemouth have only failed to score in one of their 17 away games this term.
Prediction: BTTS @ 1.93
Kick-off: Saturday 17:30, Sky Sports
So, a few things to consider here.
As I write, Manchester City can be backed at 1.11 and are as short as 1.01 with some other firms to score at least one goal.
Although the context of the game must be a factor, I do not necessarily think this will be plane sailing for the Cityzens.
Wolves have played eight games against the top five netting in all bar two which is why I think their goalscorer market is worth dipping into.
Rayan Aït-Nouri is the most appealing price, not least because he could potentially start in a more advanced position. He has netted three times this term in all competitions, all of which have come in his last eight appearances.
Prediction: Rayan Aït-Nouri Anytime Goalscorer @ 11.00
Kick-off: Sunday 14:00, Sky Sports
A trip to the South Coast could prove just the tonic for Aston Villa this Sunday.
Unai Emery’s side fell to a shock 4-2 defeat against Olympiacos in the Europa Conference League on Thursday and the Villans looked dead on their feet.
Although that result dented their continental chances, the result at Stamford Bridge on the same night aided their chances of a top four finish.
It also doesn’t hurt that Brighton are massively out of form. The Seagulls are winless in six and have only taken six points from the last 27 on offer.
Prediction: Aston VIlla Win @ 2.48
Kick-off: Sunday 16:30, Sky Sports
Tottenham have come under a lot of scrutiny recently, not least for their set piece defending.
Only Burnley and Manchester United have racked up a bigger xGA from dead ball situations but opponents seem to be exploiting this Spurs weakness a lot recently.
Central defenders Kurt Zouma, Fabian Schar and Trevoh Chalobah all prospering within the last month, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg also turned into his own net from a corner recently in the North London derby.
Ibrahima Konate is yet to net this campaign but he has racked up an xG of 0.7 and is averaging 0.5 shots per game so he is due one.
Prediction: Ibrahima Konate Anytime Goalscorer @ 9.00
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Luton vs Everton @ 1.73
Back BTTS in Arsenal vs Bournemouth @ 1.93
Back Rayan Aït-Nouri Anytime Goalscorer @ 11.00
Back Aston Villa Win @ 2.48
Back Ibrahima Konate Anytime Goalscorer @ 9.00
