One day and then it's back to it. After a bumper midweek round of Premier League fixtures, there is only one day to recover before the sides are back in action over the weekend. We have five best bets wrapped up in a tipsheet for gameweek 23.
Kick-off: 12:30 Saturday, TNT Sports
The first selection is a narrative driven one as Richarlison returns to Goodison Park. The frontman is in line to make his first start at Everton since leaving the club.
Since making the switch to Spurs, Richarlison has scored eight league goals and picked up six bookings, it is the latter that interests me here.
With a cards per 90 average of 0.27 and a favourable referee- Michael Oliver has dished out 56 cards in 13 top flight appearances this term, the frontman is worth a tout to be shown a card.
Only two of those six bookings have come for fouls, the others have been for brazen goal celebrations, time wasting and arguments, so Richarlison certainly has range.
Prediction: Richarlison Card @ 4.7
Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday
Brighton and Crystal Palace renew hostilities on Saturday so expect a cagey affair.
Despite Brighton’s reputation as one of the top flight’s entertainers, goals are often of a premium when they play the Eagles. Each of the last five meetings between the sides have seen no more than two goals scored and at tasty odds under 2.5 goals is the bet here.
Domestically, the Seagulls have hit a bit of a barren spell failing to score in each of their last three games. In fact, six of their last seven have seen this bet land with Saturday’s hosts only scoring six goals over that period.
Palace’s mercurial duo of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise were scintillating in their sides victory over Sheffield United on Tuesday. Neither lasted the 90 though and if the injuries they picked up are worse than initially feared, the Eagles will be toothless on the South Coast.
Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals @ 2.2
Kick-off: 14:00 Sunday
Wolves lost out in a seven goal thriller with Manchester United on Thursday.
The Wanderers fell two goals behind on two separate occasions but after a late rally Gary O’Neil must have thought his side had snatched a point. Pedro Neto scored in the fifth minute of injury time to square the game before Kobbie Mainoo won the game in the dying seconds.
Wolves must quickly regroup for the trip to Stamford Bridge where I fancy them to right Thursday’s wrong.
Chelsea were woeful at Anfield in midweek and could be outfoxed once more this Sunday against a side who are developing a bit of a reputation against ‘big six’ sides.
Prediction: Wolves to beat Chelsea @ 5.7
Kick-off: 16:30 Sunday, Sky Sports
You must have heard.
Darwin Nunez had 11 shots against Chelsea on Wednesday, he hit the woodwork four times (an Opta record), missed a penalty and racked up an xG of 1.45, all without finding the net.
Classic Nunez. It would be typical of him to score four this weekend at the Emirates, I am only touting him to find the net anytime though.
He has scored 11 and assisted another 11 this term. In the Premier League that is seven goals in 21 appearances and a goals per 90 average of 0.49.
Prediction: Darwin Nunez Anytime Goalscorer @ 3.5
Kick-off: 20:00 Monday, Sky Sports
Brentford were the only Premier League team to do the double over Manchester City last season. An Ivan Toney brace, the second of which coming in the 90+8th minute, sank City at the Etihad. So, if there is any side capable of ending the Citizens eight game winning streak, it is Thomas Frank’s side.
Brenford’s manager praised his side's performance against Tottenham on Wednesday. Brentford’s last three league games have ended 3-2, Frank was more pleased with the performance during the defeat in North London then the win over Nottingham Forest that preceded it though.
The Bees certainly have the firepower to bloody the nose of Pep Guardiola’s side and with the visitors conceding in 80% of their 10 away games this season so both teams to score appeals.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score @ 1.8
Back Richarlison Card @ 4.7
Back Under 2.5 Goals in Brighton vs Palace @ 2.2
Back Wolves to beat Chelsea @ 5.7
Back Darwin Nunez Anytime Goalscorer @ 3.5
Back BTTS in Brentford vs Man City @ 1.8
