Premier League Betting Tips: Who is this week's hat-trick hero?

26 April 2024

It has been a massive week in the title race as Liverpool stuttered against Merseyside rivals Everton on Wednesday. This weekend the North London Derby and Manchester City’s trip to the City Ground takes centre stage. At the bottom of the table, Sheffield United could be the first casualty of the campaign if they fail to beat Newcastle.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace

Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday

Jean Philippe-Mateta is reaping the rewards of Oliver Glasner’s arrival.

The frontman has hit 11 for the Premier League campaign, netted four times in his last two games and I am hoping he can go one better at Craven Cottage and take home the matchball.

Mateta already has a hat-trick to his name this season, in the EFL Cup against Plymouth and another this weekend would be his sixth of his career.

The exciting thing is, this matchup does lend itself to goals as neither club has anything to play for. The pair of clubs are also pretty obliging on the goals front, each averaging over 2.9 a game.

Prediction: Jean Philippe-Mateta 3+ goals @ 85.00

Wolves vs Luton

Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday

Luton have been a thorn in the side for most of this campaign.

Overlooking the back-to-back 5-1 defeats, they have rarely been out a game this term.

The Hatters have also rarely been kept at bay, bloodying the noses off their opponents in all bar five of their games. Arsenal, the best defence in the division, have been the only side to keep them at bay in a 22 game period stretching back to November.

Wolves are without a clean sheet in eight games.

Prediction: BTTS & Over 2.5 @ 1.92

Aston Villa vs Chelsea

Kick-off: 20:00 Saturday, TNT Sports 1

Goals are expected at Villa Park and why wouldn’t they be?

Aston Villa take on Chelsea, two sides who’s games have averaged over 3.6 goals. It also pits Ollie Watkins against Cole Palmer, two players vying for the Golden Boot on 19 and 20 goals respectively.

Understandably, goals are painfully short with over 2.5 and BTTS at 1.67. Siding with Aston Villa to score two or more looks a nicer way in.

The is has clicked for the Blues opponents in five of their last six games which is especially daming considering they have played Sheffield United and Burnley over that period, two of the Premier Leagues three worst attacks.

Prediction: Aston Villa to score 2+ goals @ 1.75

Tottenham vs Arsenal

Kick-off: 14:00 Sunday, Sky Sports

The last time Arsenal went off odds on at Tottenham in a Premier League game (according to Flashscores) was November 13th, 2004 where the Gunners edged a nine goal thriller.

Thiery Henry and Patrick Viera were among the goal scorers that afternoon and Arsenal went on to finish runners-up, they will be hoping that is not an oman this season.

The latest addition of the North London derby feels bigger than usual as Arsenal compete for a title and Tottenham look to finish in the top four.

The fact that Spurs can put a massive dent in their rivals title hopes is motivation enough and at what feels like a big price, taking the hosts +0.5 Asian handicap is the bet.

Prediction: Tottenham Asian Handicap (+0.5) @ 2.02

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City

Kick-off 16:30 Sunday, Sky Sports

After Nottingham Forest’s public outcry it seems logical to dip into the card market in their game with Manchester City.

For those living under a rock, Forest recently took to Twitter to declare war on the Premier League referee association after three potential penalties went unpunished in their game with Everton.

A tweet sent directly from the owner suggested corruption and although Forest have back tracked slightly, I can’t imagine the atmosphere will be a pleasant one here.

Feeding off the raucous City Ground atmosphere, Morgan Gibbs-White’s price for a card appeals. He has notched up nine this term, the most at his club, and will be tasked with containing a stacked City midfield.

Prediction: Morgan Gibbs-White Card @ 3.60
