Premier League gameweek 33 is upon us and one point separates the title trio, all of which were in European action this week. In this tipsheet we have a bet for half of the fixtures.
Kick-off: 12:30 Saturday, TNT Sports
Newcastle’s injury list really is something.
Eddie Howe could welcome Tottenham without as many as 12 players sidelined. Joe Willock is the latest player into the treatment room after he was withdrawn in the first half of the victory at Craven Cottage.
In stark contrast, Tottenham are almost at full strength with Richarlison expected to return to the matchday squad after missing the last game.
The reverse saw five goals and I expect another goal-laden clash.
Both teams to score has clicked in four of Spurs last six games, the two it didn’t see a total of seven goals.
There have also been at least four goals in five of the Magpies last seven games.
Prediction: Over 3.5 Goals @ 1.92
Kick-off: 15:00 Saturday
Manchester City have been far from resolute in defence this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side shipped three in a six-goal thriller at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, the third time City have shipped more than two goals this season.
In the Premier League, they have only kept seven clean sheets. Even struggling Everton have kept more.
At the Etihad, the likes of Burnley and Crystal Palace have bloodied the nose of the treble winners, so at over even money backing both teams to score on Saturday appeals.
Luton have made a habit of netting against the big boys. The Hatters have only failed to score in two of their nine games against the top five and with this fixture sandwiched in between City’s Champions League quarter final the hosts may take their eye off the ball.
Prediction: BTTS @ 2.24
Kick-off: 14:00 Sunday, Sky Sports
Liverpool were thumped 4-0 at Anfield by Atalanta on Thursday in the Europa League. The Reds were heavily odds on to win. Who saw that coming and what impact will it have on the rest of the season?
Jurgen Klopp’s side won the League Cup but are out of the FA Cup and look to be heading in the same direction on the continent so that just leaves the league title to compete for in his swansong campaign.
The Reds host Crystal Palace on Sunday and I think it is worth having a tickle of the Eagles to cause saw damage and score twice as they did against City last weekend.
The Reds have not kept a clean sheet in eight games, shipping 17 goals over that period.
Prediction: Crystal Palace +1.5 Goals @ 4.60
Kick-off: 16:30 Sunday, Sky Sports
At the start of December, Aston Villa beat Arsenal and Manchester City in the space of three days and those six points put the Villans within two of the then leaders Liverpool.
Faltering form since the turn of the year has seen Unai Emery’s men fall out of the title race but tied on 60 with Tottenham, they are still in the hunt for the top four.
Villa went off at an identical price at the Etihad recently. Although they went onto to lose 4-1 they gave the treble winners a run for their money all without the likes of OIlie Watkins, John McGinn and Youri Tielemans.
Even though both Arsenal and Villa have European games either side of this clash, it is the price of the visitors that seems a touch large as Emery should name a stronger XI then he did against City.
Prediction: Aston Villa Win @ 10.0
Kick-off: 20:00 Monday, Sky Sports
Everton are amidst a relegation fight, and we are yet to see the impact of their latest point deduction.
On the pitch, the Toffees are having issues finding the net and are conceding too many goals. Dominic Calvert-Lewin may have netted two goals in as many games but one was from the spot and the other was deflected off him via a goalkeeper's kick.
His opposite number is having no trouble finding the net. Cole Palmer notched up his 14th, 15th and 16th league goals of the campaign against Manchester United and followed that up with an assist at Bramall Lane.
He will fancy his chances of getting back amongst the goals on Monday as the Blues host a side who’s only clean sheet since the end of January game against Burnley.
Prediction: Cole Palmer Anytime Goalscorer @ 2.60
Back Over 3.5 Goals in Newcastle vs Tottenham @ 1.92
Back BTTS in Man City vs Luton @ 2.24
Back Crystal Palace +1.5 Goals vs Liverpool @ 4.60
Back Aston Villa to beat Arsenal @ 10.0
Back Cole Palmer Anytime Goalscorer vs Everton @ 2.60
