Newcastle v West Ham Tips: Flying Magpies set out to hammer the Irons

There aren’t many football teams in the world right now more buoyant than Eddie Howe’s Newcastle, who on Saturday meet a West Ham United side that has struggled for form.
Newcastle just booked their spot in their first cup final since 1999 and now have a chance to take another step towards their UEFA Champions League dream (they’re 1.77 to finish top four).
Meanwhile, the Hammers secured their first league victory after a seven-game drought when they beat Everton a couple of weeks ago. During that dry spell, West Ham lost six matches and scored just twice. They’re only just above the relegation zone, but are expected to beat the drop.
When you’re struggling for goals, the last thing you want to do is come up against one of the meanest defences in the county – and have to go to their home patch.
Howe’s Newcastle have kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 matches across all competitions, and Southampton's consolation goal in the League Cup semi-final second leg was the first time they had conceded in a competitive game at St. James’ Park since October.
So, when you add the fact that David Moyes’ outfit haven’t won on the road in a Premier League game since August, a home win to nil (2.52) seems quite likely. Don’t forget that West Ham have failed to score in half of their last 10 Premier League away matches.
Following a remarkable start to his campaign, Paraguayan Miguel Almiron has seen his goals dry up lately. Nevertheless, he will be hopeful to net against a side that has struggled to keep clean sheets in recent months.
‘Miggy’ hasn’t scored since Boxing Day, and you can get him at 2.58 in the anytime goalscorer market in this encounter. However, history suggests that it’s Callum Wilson (2.3) who is the smart choice to hit the back of the net.
The English striker has scored more goals against the Hammers than any other team in his career, racking up nine goals in just 11 matches against the Londoners. Perhaps he can add to his impressive tally on Saturday.
