Leeds v Tottenham Tips: Back Kane to get on the scoresheet at Elland Road

Leeds United are on the brink of relegation following a 3-1 defeat by West Ham United last weekend. Can they escape this extremely precarious position to retain their Premier League relegation status?
First and foremost, Leeds must beat Tottenham Hotspur to have any chance of avoiding the drop. If Leicester beat West Ham or Everton defeat Bournemouth, Leeds will be relegated regardless of their own result. Furthermore, if Everton draw with the Cherries then Sam Allardyce’s side must beat Spurs by three clear goals to preserve their top-tier status.
Leeds fans will therefore arrive at Elland Road more in hope than expectation - and even the former will be in short supply.
Last weekend’s loss at the London Stadium was concerning. Leeds took the lead through Rodrigo and were still in the game at half-time despite Declan Rice’s equaliser, but their defensive structure collapsed in the second half and they allowed West Ham to cruise to victory.
Their issues pre-date Allardyce, who has been given very little time to make an impact. Yet it is also true that the veteran manager has not succeeded in making Leeds either tougher to beat or more of an attacking threat. His three games at the helm have yielded just one point.
Tottenham still have something to play for on the final weekend, although it is not clear how much they value the prize on offer. Victory in Yorkshire would see Spurs qualify for the Europa Conference League if Aston Villa fail to beat Brighton & Hove Albion.
Supporters appear to be split on whether or not participation in the tertiary continental competition would be a good thing. Either way, Tottenham will be keen to end what has been a hugely disappointing season on a high note. None more so than Ryan Mason, who is unlikely to be in charge next term.
Spurs have collected just four points from the last 21 available, so they are not exactly in fine form either. But, even amid their slide down the standings, Harry Kane has maintained his sky-high standards. The England captain has scored in five of his last six appearances and taken his tally for the campaign to 28. A brace on Sunday would make this his joint-best goalscoring season alongside 2017/18.
And given his reliability, who would bet against Kane finding the back of the net at least once? He will be facing the division’s leakiest backline, and the fact Leeds simply must win means the home team will be compelled to take the sort of risks that should leave Kane, Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski with plenty of space in advanced areas.
In what could be his last game for Tottenham, back Harry Kane to do what he does best.
