Europa League and Conference League Betting Tips: Darwin Nunez and Evan Ferguson to score

20 September 2023

The Europa League and Europa Conference League resume this week - here is our look-ahead to five games taking place across the continent.

Legia Warsaw vs Aston Villa

 5.45pm, TNT Sports 1

Aston Villa thumped Hibernian over two legs in the Europa Conference League play-offs and they will now be looking to take Group E by storm. A trip to Legia Warsaw is a potential banana skin, however, even though Villa deserve to be favourites.

Unai Emery’s side have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight Premier League away games, so do not discount Legia entirely.

Tip: Both teams to score at 1.9

Bayer Leverkusen vs BK Hacken

5.45pm, TNT Sports 7

Bayer Leverkusen are only the seventh-favourites to win the Europa League. That feels a little unfair on Xabi Alonso’s side, who drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich at the weekend and have been tipped to be the Bavarians’ closest challengers in the Bundesliga.

BK Hacken are about to embark on their first ever appearance in a European group stage, but they will be up against it from matchday one onwards. Leverkusen should ease to victory here.

Tip: Bayer Leverkusen -2.5 Asian handicap at 2.02

LASK vs Liverpool

5.45pm,TNT Sports 1

For the third time in their last four matches, Liverpool came from a goal down to pick up all three points on Saturday. A 3-1 defeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers sets the Reds up nicely for this trip to Austria, where Jurgen Klopp will probably make a few changes to his side.

Among those likely to come into the team is Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay international is a real handful and he will fancy his chances of scoring against LASK if he is given sufficient minutes on the pitch.

Tip: Darwin Nunez to score any time at 2.24

Brighton & Hove Albion vs AEK Athens

8pm, TNT Sports 1

Brighton will participate in the first European fixture in the club’s history when AEK Athens visit the south coast of England this week. The Seagulls are flying high after a 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Saturday and they look well placed to emerge victorious again here.

Danny Welbeck started up front ahead of Evan Ferguson at Old Trafford, but the Irishman looks set to return to the starting XI here. After his hat-trick in his last appearance at the Amex Stadium, Ferguson’s confidence will be high.

Tip: Evan Ferguson to score any time at 2.04

West Ham United vs TSC

8pm, TNT Sports 2

It is to David Moyes’ great credit that West Ham fans are growing accustomed to watching their team in continental competition. Fresh from their Europa Conference League triumph last term, the Hammers now have their sights set on a deep run in the Europa League.

TSC, also known as Backa Topola, could be in for a difficult evening. West Ham have been productive in attack so far this season and they will be keen to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City.

Tip: Over 3.5 goals at 1.95
