English Football League Betting Tips: Contrasting fortunes as exciting EFL action continues

We’ve got teams with 100% records, teams with unbeaten records and a couple of teams without a point at all as we head into the latest weekend of the English Football League.

Ipswich Town and Gillingham are flying, Sheffield Wednesday and Colchester are struggling, and a couple of teams are already into double figures on the goals front – and on Saturday another 34 matches will take place across the Championship, League One and League Two.

Football expert, Joe Crann, has picked out a game from all three divisions to highlight once again this week, and he’s on hand to take us through how things could play out.

Huddersfield Town vs Norwich City

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday

It’s been a bright enough start for Norwich this season, and they’ve picked up seven points in three games whilst averaging three goals per match up to now. With Huddersfield having just the one point, it’s not difficult to see why the hosts aren’t quite the favourites for this one. They’re at 3.6 to win compared to 2.2 for the visitors.

Only one team in the Championship has scored fewer goals than Neil Warnock’s side so far, and one of their two strikes went down as an own goal, as they picked up a respectable away point against Middlesbrough last week.

Young Jonathan Rowe (3.9 anytime goalscorer) has scored more on his own than Huddersfield collectively this season, and you’d expect the Canaries to come away from West Yorkshire with a victory in this one.

Prediction: Norwich to win and over 1.5 goals @ 2.58

Peterborough United v Derby County

Kick-off: 3pm Saturday

It’s a close one to call as Derby make the trip to London Road, as hosts Peterborough will be eager to bounce back after they suffered a shock defeat the hands of Northampton Town in their last match.

At 2.54 Peterborough remain the favourites over the Rams (2.98), and with three of Derby’s four games so far featuring three goals in them, it’s no shock to see both teams to score at a relatively low 1.69.

Not all under his watch, of course, but Paul Warne’s side have lost all of their last four trips to face the Posh and their start to this season has hardly been inspiring.

Prediction: Under 3.5 goals @ 1.37

Salford City v Accrington Stanley

Kickoff: 3pm Saturday

It should be a fascinating encounter out at the Peninsula Stadium as fourth-placed Accrington travel to fifth-placed Salford, in a contest between two teams who have had an almost identical start to their 2023/24 campaigns.

Both have had an inconsistent start in their opening four matches, but with home advantage it is the Ammies (at 1.82) who are the favourites for this one. They also have Callum Hendry going into the game full of confidence after his hat-trick in the 4-3 goal-fest win over Tranmere Rovers last week.

Neither side has kept a clean sheet since the opening day of the season, which suggests there could be goals in this one (over 2.5 is at 1.83), but with four wins in their last 10 home matches, the hosts haven’t really managed to create a fortress.

Prediction: Salford City win and both teams to score @ 3.65

Recommended Bets:

Huddersfield Town vs Norwich City - Norwich City to win and over 1.5 goals @ 2.58
Peterborough United vs Derby County - Under 3.5 goals @ 1.37
Salford City vs Accrington Stanley - Salford City win and both teams to score @ 3.65
