English Football League Betting Tips: Unbeaten runs on the line in another big weekend

We’re only a handful of games into the 2023/24 season, but already there are just a few teams left over who are yet to have suffered defeat in the English Football League.
Not many – if any – football pyramids around the world have the same competitiveness as England’s, and as we head into the final round of fixtures before the first international break there are plenty of games to look through that could be of interest.
Football expert, Joe Crann, takes a look at some of those who go into these games with their unbeaten run intact, including the only other team in the top our four tiers alongside Manchester City who has a 100% winning record to date.
Kick-off: 3pm Saturday
Leicester have played four, won four, and while their results haven’t been the most convincing, they won’t mind at all having taken an early lead at the top of the second tier table. They’re 1.6 favourites for this one for a reason, but Hull haven’t had a bad start either and some solid recruitment has given their fans room for optimism.
Kelechi Iheanacho (2.04 anytime scorer) is currently viewed as the player most likely to get on the scoresheet, however, with his future far from certain at this point in time he might not even be a Fox by the time this game rolls around.
Enzo Maresca’s side have only lost one of their last six competitive home games, four of which came in the Premier League, but haven’t kept a clean sheet at the King Power Stadium since November 2022. Both teams to score is at 1.76.
Prediction: Leicester to win and over 2.5 goals @ 2.28
Kick-off: 3pm Saturday
It’s only been a couple of days since these two faced each other in the Carabao Cup, and after that game went the distance it’s no shock to see that this one is being seen as a tough one to call – Peterborough are the outsiders at 3.15.
Pompey may have lost that one via a penalty shootout, but in League One they’ve kept four clean sheets in a row at Fratton Park and are 16 games unbeaten, stretching back to a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in March. They’ve only conceded more than once on two occasions in that time.
But the Posh have been solid on the road too, beating Reading and Barnsley away from home before their recent cup triumph.
Prediction: Both teams to score and over 2.5 @ 2.12
Kick-off: 3pm Saturday
This game sees fifth take on sixth in League Two, with both sides sat on nine points after five matches played – the Dons, though, are the ones who are still unbeaten.
Newport’s games have been box office this season so far with 3+ goals in six of their seven games in all competitions, and earlier this week they very nearly caused a major upset as they took Brentford to penalties in the cup.
Graham Coughlan’s side have won both of their home games this season so far, scoring seven times, and you can get over 2.5 for this one at 2.04. Wimbledon, meanwhile, held their own bravely against Chelsea a few days ago, and haven’t conceded a goal away from home in the league this season.
Prediction: Both teams to score and over 2.5 @ 2.4
Leicester City vs Hull City: Leicester to win and over 2.5 goals @ 2.28
Portsmouth vs Peterborough United: Both teams to score and over 2.5 @ 2.12
Newport County vs AFC Wimbledon: Both teams to score and over 2.5 @ 2.4
