The EFL Cup quarter-finals take centre this midweek and here at SBK we have a tip for every single game wrapped up in the Tipsheet.
Kick-off: 19:45 Tuesday
Everton will be looking to secure their fifth win on the spin as they host Fulham on Tuesday evening with a spot in the semifinals at stake. The Toffee’s breezed past Burnley in the last round, as did Fulham with a 3-1 victory over Championship title hopefuls Ipswich.
I don’t know what went off at Craven Cottage over the international break but Marco Silva's side returned to domestic duty playing like Brazil.
In the five games since, the Cottagers have found the net 16 times, 10 of which came in the space of a week as they beat Nottingham Forest and West Ham 5-0. Raul Jiminez’s red card was a major factor in the 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park at the weekend and the end of that goals glut but at an appetising price, over 2.5 goals appeals a Goodison.
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals in Everton vs Fulham @ 1.86
Kick-off: 19:45 Tuesday
Port Vale finished in the bottom half last season in League One, meanwhile Middlesbrough finished fourth in the division above. Although the league table doesn’t reflect this yet, the underlying data suggests both sides are trending towards similar finishes this season.
League positions alone, is why I cannot work out the visitors price at a shade of odds on. Their form may look patchy but this month they have played Leeds (3rd), Ipswich (2nd), Hull (6th) and Swansea at the weekend.
Port Vale have won four games in this competition but Boro are the first side ranked higher than them and I think the gulf in quality will show.
Prediction: Middlesbrough to beat Port Vale @ 1.88
Kick-off: 20:00 Tuesday, Sky Sports
Ian Maatsen’s only two starts this campaign have come in this competition. Despite spending the majority of his career at full back Mauricio Pochettino is exercising the players versatility and deploying him higher up the pitch.
Maatsen started both games in advanced positions, and for this reason his price to score anytime appeals here. Maatsen has only scored eight goals in his career, none of which have come this term and he is yet to break his Blues duck. He has had six shots in the League cup this campaign though and could find the net against an injury stricken Newcastle.
Prediction: Ian Maatsen to score anytime @ 5.0
Kick-off: 20:00 Wednesday, Sky Sports
So much has been made of finding a Michail Antonio replacement. The answer though was right in front of us this whole time and David Moyes knew it. Jarrod Bowen can play centrally, he did at Hull and now is once again at West Ham and is bagging for fun.
His goal against Wolves at the weekend was his 11th of the campaign, 10 of which have come in the top flight. Often marketed as a potential suited for the Reds, Bowen seems to thrive against them, he scored in his last trip to Anfield and looks an appetising price to do so here.
Prediction: Jarrod Bowen to score anytime @ 4.5
Back Over 2.5 goals in Everton vs Fulham @ 1.86
Back Middlesbrough to beat Port Vale @ 1.88
Back Ian Maatsen to score anytime in Chelsea vs Newcastle @ 5.0
Back Jarrod Bowen to score anytime in Liverpool vs West Ham @ 4.5
