The English Football League remains as eventful as ever and, with the Championship on leave this week, Jack Goddard helps you find some value accumulator selections in the lower divisions.
Kick-off: 2pm Saturday
Here’s a fun fact for you: Northampton midfielder Sam Hoskins has scored as many league goals this season (ten) as the entire Stockport squad combined.
County were one of the favourites for promotion at the beginning of the year, but Dave Challinor’s side have made an extremely rocky start to the campaign and languish in 16th place.
The primary reason for their poor start has been their away form. Stockport have lost all four of their matches on the road, and Sixfields is not the place to go if you want to end a streak like that.
The Cobblers have been in good shape on their own patch this term with four victories from their first five games. They have also scored three times in each of their last two games at home, during the course of winning three straight league matches. Don’t look twice at tasty 2.58 odds.
Selection: Northampton to win @ 2.56
Kick-off: 3pm Saturday
Wycombe made a slow start to the season after losing last year’s play-off final, but they appear to be gradually shaking off their post-Wembley hangover.
Gareth Ainsworth’s squad has lost just one of their last five league games, due in part to attacking midfielder Anis Mehmeti, who scored in four of those matches. His potency has contributed to the fact that Wycombe have now netted in each of their last seven fixtures.
Wednesday, meanwhile, are the division’s joint-highest scorers at home with 11 goals from just five games. No ground in the league, other than the Memorial Stadium where Bristol Rovers lost 6-3 last week, has seen more goals than Hillsborough so far this season. As such, I fancy both teams to find the net here.
Selection: Both teams to score @ 1.98
Kick-off: 3pm Saturday
Stevenage are just one of three sides with a 100% home record in League Two this season, conceding just twice in the process of securing four consecutive wins.
It seems unlikely that Harrogate will blemish Boro's perfect record after their goalless draw with Stockport last week ended a wretched run of four straight defeats. The Sulphurites have scored just three goals in their last eight games in their skid down the table.
The Boro have netted only six times at the Lamex so far this season, but they boast the highest home xG of any side in the division - averaging exactly two. I expect them to fulfil their goal-scoring potential and see off Harrogate with ease.
Selection: Stevenage to win @ 1.62
Kick-off: 3pm Saturday
Bradford made an underwhelming start to life under Mark Hughes, but the Bantams are now fast becoming an unstoppable force under the former Manchester City manager.
They have rocketed up the table in recent weeks, winning four of their last five games while scoring ten goals - an average of two a game - on the way to their current fifth-place position.
Wimbledon, meanwhile, have headed in the opposite direction, losing their last four league matches and failing to score in three. With just one away win to their name all year - against a Crawley side who are miserable at home - all signs point to another Dons defeat here.
Selection: Bradford to win @ 1.85
Northampton v Stockport - Northampton to win @ 2.56
Sheffield Wednesday v Wycombe - Both teams to score @ 1.98
Stevenage v Harrogate - Stevenage to win @ 1.62
Bradford v Wimbledon - Bradford to win @ 1.85
