The Champions League semi-final second legs, two of the most exciting days in the football calendar and these two clashes do not disappoint. Both are finally poised and we have bets for each.
Kick-off: 20:00 Tuesday, TNT Sports
Borussia Dortmund continued to make waves in Europe.
They lead Paris-Saint Germain 1-0 after the first leg in Germany, a fixture they were as long as 3.00 to win.
In the first leg of their quarter-final clash with Atletico Madrid, they were 2-1 down at the half-way stage and put four past the Spanish side who have become knock-out specialists under Diego Simeone.
For further context, they are 24 points off the pace in the Bundesliga and 2.34 to make it to the final of the Champions League, despite having the advantage in their semi-final.
Add to that, Die Schwarzgelben were also drawn into the group of death and it is fair to say their run to this stage of the competition has been nothing short of remarkable.
Nevertheless, I am hoping they continue to pull up trees and no doubt they will be digging their claws in to keep their noses in front in this clash.
Although he is not exactly famed for his gamesmanship, backing Gregor Kobel to be shown a card here is the bet.
The thinking being the Swiss stopper will be pulling out all the stops to keep Dortmund’s slender lead in tack.
Apart from Kobel’s annoyingly clean disciplinary record, this is a match-up primed for a keeper card when you consider Dortmund are away from home.
Prediction: Gregor Kobel to be shown a card @ 5.40
Kick-off: 20:00 Wednesday, TNT Sports
To avoid players being suspended for the final, UEFA wiped suspensions after the quarter-finals meaning the only way players could potentially miss the match at Wembley is if they get sent off.
Considering there is essentially no looming punishment for a booking in this clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, I think player cards are as good a bet as any in this match-up. Not least because Szymon Marciniak has the whistle in Madrid, a referee averaging six cards per game in this competition.
The price of Vinicius Junior to be shown a card immediately stood out at 3.70.
The Brazilian attacker has always drawn fouls but gives as good as he gets.
This term he has notched up nine cards in all competitions for Real Madrid, two of which coming in his five appearances in the knock-out stages.
In fact, all but two of his cards have come since the turn of the year, that is seven in his last 26 starts.
Prediction: Vinicius Junior to be shown a card @ 3.70
Back Gregor Kobel to be shown a card @ 5.40
Back Vinicius Junior to be shown a card @ 3.70
