Champions League Betting Tips: who will book their place in the next round

This week is where the Champions League gets serious, it is win or go-home time for a lot of these teams.

Arsenal vs FC Porto

If Arsenal are going to make it to the last eight, they are going to have to do it the hard way. They find themselves a goal down coming into the second leg. However, Arteta’s men have been in fantastic form and will fancy their chances of making it to the quarter-finals despite having a deficit to overcome.

The Gunners have been firing on all cylinders since the turn of the year. They are averaging over three goals per game across all competitions and they know they need at least two goals in this one to avoid going to extra time. I’m backing them to win by the required margin here. Arsenal have won five of their last seven matches by two goals or more.

Barcelona vs Napoli

Neither of these sides are at their best as Tuesday night’s fixture draws near but both sides are capable of causing a real stir in the Champions League. This tie is perfectly poised after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and this promises to be an enthralling clash.

Our bet for this one is Barcelona to win. European nights at the Camp Nou are a momentous occasion and Xavi’s side have won all three of their home matches in this competition this season.

Napoli are struggling on the road. Their recent away win over Sassuolo was their first in eight games.

Atletico Madrid vs Inter Milan

Inter Milan come into this clash as the form team in Europe. Simone Inzaghi has them playing some excellent football. They are solid at the back but they manage to carry a huge amount of attacking threat. Inter were unfortunate not to win the first leg by a wider margin so it’s still in the balance as they head to Madrid.

I’m betting on an away victory in this one. Inter have won their last 13 matches across all competitions. They beat a Bologna side that were on a fantastic run at the weekend so confidence is flowing. During that winning run, they are conceding an average of 0.38 goals per game. Inzaghi’s side are capable of keeping it tight and hitting Atletico on the break when the home side opens up.

Borussia Dortmund vs PSV

20:00 Wednesday 

Borussia Dortmund topped the Champions League’s group of death but they weren’t at their best in the first leg of this tie. They beat Werder Bremen 2-1 at the weekend and I fancy them to make it three consecutive victories on Wednesday night. 

Edin Terzic’s side are unbeaten at home in the Champions League since the start of last season. During that run, they have conceded an average of just 0.29 goals.

PSV have conceded an average of two goals per European away match this season and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of those matches. This should prove to be problematic against a Dortmund side that have defended well.
